Social Media – Engagement, Entertainment and the New Passion

Yes – we are almost all there – Facebook, Twitter and what have you. Everyone from Salman at the closest tea store, to Salman of the Bollywood fame, and now even Salman Rushdie! And so is Hindustan Lever, environment groups dogging them and all those big names you know!

So what on earth is social media and what difference does it make today.

First – it’s time that all of us in business, management, marketing, HR and all that makes the systems turn see Social media as Consumer Related Marketing tools. People from all walks of life share their ideas, feels, comments on experiences they have with products, services and even life in general. We on the other hand can use these tools to foster relationships, understand consumers and engage them in ‘conversation’. Make them our friend and compatriot.

Second - Listen in the what your consumer or customer is saying. Use the network, drop in on blogs, search for yourself and even make sure that you have a pulse on what is going in the market place. What is that people are saying about you in specific and the sectors in general. Trust me it all there!

Third – Ensure face to face rapport with them on the net because Social media is a simple and easy way help this relationship grow! You can through a variety of media – across Facebook, Twitter make these relationships grow!

So now is the Social Media strategy – Once again simple – as it is any media plan. What is my focus, who is my target audience and what else can I choose to make this relationship happen!

That is of course a new idea and a new session!
